June is National Dairy Month and there are lots of reasons to celebrate! Dairy products are some of the most affordable, nutrient-dense foods you can consume. And besides being nutritious, they’re also delicious!
As a parent, it’s important to provide your kids with well-balanced, nutrient-rich foods. We know sometimes it’s hard to navigate the sea of options at the grocery store and to know which is, actually, the healthier choice. While milk and dairy occasionally get a bad rap, milk is still one of the most nutrient-dense beverages you can consume, with 9 essential nutrients (Calcium, Vitamin D, Vitamin A, Protein, Phosphorous, Vitamin B12, Riboflavin, Potassium, and Niacin), 8g of protein, and only three ingredients (seriously, check your labels). It’s also a healthy source of carbohydrates and consists of 85% water, making milk nutritious and hydrating.
So to dispel some of this Udder Nonsense you may have heard about dairy, we’re coming to you live from Sock Drawer Studios (there may be puppets involved) with four episodes of family-friendly educational fun! We’re debunking four common dairy myths with the true facts to show that dairy is nutritious, safe, and an important part of a healthy diet.
